I love making Pirate Dolls. I make both boy and girl pirate dolls. My newest doll in my online shop is this brunette Pirate Girl Doll.

I don't give my dolls names. I let their new owners do that. But there have been some famous women pirates in history. Anne Bonny was a swashbuckler in the Caribbean during the early 1700s. Perhaps someone will buy this doll and call her Anne the Pirate. This Pirate Girl Doll is a one of a kind handmade cloth doll designed for both children or adult collectors.

You can buy my dolls online at my Etsy shop.

If this Cancan Dancer Doll kicks up her heels, watch out. She has fancy lace ruffles and drawers under that magenta dress. She's the latest creation to dance her way into the Joelle's Dolls online shop on Etsy. You can click on the image to see more photos of her.

My latest doll is a two-fer: a Little Girl Doll Hugging a Cat Doll. She's a perfect child-friendly handmade toy that comes with her own pet. Your child will carry them everywhere. I just put her in my online shop today. This little girl doll is happy because she loves her orange kitty.

She is a one of a kind cloth doll. But she does have a cousin, an African American Girl Doll who also loves holding her kitten.

Buy them both and your child or grandchild will be extra happy.

It's been a while since I put a new doll in my online shop. But I hope my first Fairy Doll ever will make the wait worthwhile. My Fairy Doll, or Faerie Doll if you prefer that spelling, is full of extra details, like tattoos on her right arm and left leg, delicate wings made of tulle, and a pretty white flower in her curly hair. And of course, she is a one of a kind cloth doll designed for both adults and children. I'm thinking of making a few more fairies and having them suspended by strings from the frame of my tent at outdoor shows. If you want to see more photos of her, go to my online shop.

My latest handmade dolls are Mini Monsters, little green furry guys with unique faces! Some have one eye, some have two, some have eyes all over their head. These Mini Monsters will debut April 13-14 at the CNY Maple Festival in Marathon, N.Y., about 45 minutes south of Syracuse. I hope to see you there. I think boys and girls will love these handmade toys. If you can't get there, I'll be putting Mini Monsters up for sale in my online shop on Etsy.com soon, too.

I've been sick with a fever for about a week. But since I've been too tired to do much else, I spent the week sewing. Yesterday, I finished my latest doll, a Blonde Doll in a Red Dress. She's pretty fancy, with a cameo necklace, hoop earrings and a black velvet purse. I'm pretty happy with the way she turned out. I've also been making more Momma Cats because I sold almost my entire stock of them at the Syracuse Arts & Crafts Festival. For some reason, the orange Momma Cats didn't sell, however. That's odd because two of the nicest cats I've owned have both been orange. Anyhow, I hope I shake this fever soon. I've got a lot more dolls I have to finish before I open my shop at the Elmwood Avenue Festival of the Arts in Buffalo, N.Y. on Aug. 25-26.

I made a special order of two large Momma Cat Dolls for a customer earlier this week. And I'm so pleased with how they turned out that I'm planning to make more of the big cats and sell them in my Etsy shop. They are about 6 inches tall, or three times the size of my mini kitty dolls. So they are the perfect size to be moms for the kittens.

Speaking of cats, our Nacho spent two nights and three days in the vet's intensive care hospital for an infection of his pancreas that also attacked his kidney. I'm so glad that he got better. But the bill was $800. My husband says that Nacho better start looking for a job. Here's a photo of Nacho the day he came home from the vets. He has a bandage on his leg where they had him hooked up to an IV for three days.

I figured out how to shorten the url on my Joelle's Dolls fan page on Facebook. The address for the page is now simply www.facebook.com/JoellesDolls instead of the old url that had a zillion meaningless numbers. The page has 214 loyal fans, which is nice. But it's been stuck around that number for awhile. Maybe I should give a prize to whomever becomes the 300th fan? A free mini doll or little kitty?

The sewing room is bustling with activity lately. I have three shows left this year and the Christmas shopping season is fast approaching.
My next show is the Lafayette Apple Festival, which draws huge crowds. It seems like I never have enough dolls!
My Jellybean fashion dolls are one of my biggest sellers, so I'm working on a new batch of those.
There are a lot more dolls in the works, too!
